This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a low-income school in the Bronx. My students are young, but have already encountered many struggles in their short lives. Many live in shelters and almost all receive free lunch.

They are very sweet children who work really hard.

75% of the students in my school are second language learners and they take on responsibilities in their families that most children could not even imagine. My students are in kindergarten and most are in school for the first time.

My Project

I am looking to get tablets that my students will be able to use during center time. Our school has a limited supply of computers and technology in general. Students are learning more and more on computers and tablets and my students are going to be behind.

The tablets will be used for a small group while I am working with other students in a small group.

The tablets will serve as a way for the students to learn what we are doing in class in a different way. Any help and support that we receive would be greatly appreciated. I know the students will be fighting over who gets to use them and it will help to give motivation for the students to do their work so they can use them.
