My students are brilliant, hard-working, and always eager to learn and do more but in the wake of recent Hurricane Michael this potential has been hampered. Not only have many of our students lost their homes, belongings, and the livelihoods of their households, our school was also extensively damaged and will takes months of repair to recuperate.
Teachers' classrooms were turned upside-down; years and years of teacher materials and tools were destroyed with the blink of an eye.
Our teachers need your help to recuperate these losses...to offer our students the same caliber of opportunity as in the past and to continue our mission as difference-makers in our community that needs it now more than ever.
My Project
This project will assist in fulfilling the technological needs we have in our classroom. Because of losses sustained during Hurricane Michael, adjustments must be made. Though Art class will be mobile, these tablets will assist in mobility and provide much easier access to technological engagement.
The Kindle Fire tablets are an economical option that will allow students to photograph artwork and upload digitally to share with family and friends; maintaining their online portfolio.
It will also allow for more engaging introductory art lessons in which students will be able to engage with amazing resources such as the Smithsonian Museums, National Geographic, and Google Earth.
