Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first graders come to school every day excited to learn. Our school is home to children who come from 4 different temporary housing facilities. They look forward to a safe, nurturing environment with 2 hot meals.

We are helping our children become well rounded citizens who will take social and academic skills into the future.

Once they pass through our doors they can learn, experiment, discuss, explore and leave the challenges of home behind. We take pride in nurturing the whole child.

My Project

The Osmo learning system that we are requesting gives children the opportunity to problem solve and work out solutions while preparing for a future in technology. Our school focus is coding and technology. Students will work in small groups and individually with our new Osmo materials to support math content. These materials will support our school theme while building upon deficits in content areas. During center time, children will build upon their technology skills and increase their knowledge of computer science. They will work at their own pace and challenge themselves to meet new math goals.

These technology based materials will reinforce standards and content in all curriculum areas through fun exploration.

They will give my students the opportunity to use tablets for learning and not just playing games. We have tablets in our classroom but this donation will enable us to do so much more.
