I am a second-grade teacher and grade level leader. We have students from various socioeconomic backgrounds in our school. On October 30th of this year, our school was shut down due to mold issues. We lost a big portion of our personal materials. We were lucky enough to be relocated as a school into an enormous office building. The staff and students are starting to settle into our new “normal”. I would love to be able to allow my students time with technology each day. Literacy and math groups have six students during work stations, so six iPads would allow so many possibilities for all of my students. We group for reading and math, so some students have up to 3 teachers a day. I teach over 59 kids a day. My team of teachers work together to differentiate for all students and technology plays a major role in that. My students will be able to use apps Like Raz-Kids to support reading and comprehension skills during our literacy block. They will also be able to work on math skills through Dreambox learning.
A lot of students do not have technology at home.
They enjoy learning skills with interactive apps.
My Project
I work with 50+ students daily. Students love to have the ability to learn through technology. I want to provide them with opportunities in the classroom to become more familiar with educational apps during small group instruction.
My students will thrive with the extra technology within the classroom.
The students will be able to use reading apps such as Starfall and Razkids.org in order to help with reading comprehension and fluency. They will also be able to excel in math by using apps such as dreambox.com to better their skills.
Technology is a fun way to deepen students understanding of class material!
