My Students

Visual learners, hands-on activities. More and more of my students with multiple disabilities deserve to learn just as much as typical learning students.

Reading a children's book, like Brown Bear Brown Bear, should not have to cause tears or anxiety for my struggling readers in Special Education.

Students on my caseload vary from learning disabilities, dyslexia, autism, speech impairment, other health impairment, etc. In order to meet the needs of all my students, I would like to supply each student with THEIR OWN TABLET!

My Project

Technology has improved the educational experience throughout the 21st-century. As a seventh-year special education teacher, I have noticed how important technology can assist students with specific needs.

With a ratio of one-to-one technology devices to every student in my classroom, this opportunity would provide my students to learn more about their world and connect with other same-aged peers.

Each tablet will be used every day as reading and math tool for extra implementation. They will also be used as a way to communicate. Students can express themselves through pictures or recordings, instead of face to face interactions.

Creating a learning environment where my students feel safe and comfortable is my ultimate goal as a teacher. I believe these tablets will do just that.
