This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am fortunate enough to teach English Language Arts to fifth grade students at my school. The majority of these children come from low income households, and many times the only materials they need to prosper and succeed in school they do not have.
My students are enthusiastic learners in a Title l school located in Brooklyn.
Almost all of our students qualify for free lunch. Our school sadly does not have the financial means to purchase technology for the students to use to explore!
My students cannot be inspired to think critically if they are constantly held back by a lack of resources to use. Many students feel shy asking for supplies because their families cannot afford to buy them.
My Project
These materials will make a different in students learning by they will be able to research and find information in order to produce a variety of projects. Tablets are great because they are easy for students to carry in order to have access to technology in a variety of places. Also tables are user friendly and it is direct communication between students, teachers and families. Also, tablets give students instant access to individual research and a tremendous knowledge base at their fingertips. In addition, hands on learning. A touch screen allows for active engagement! Tablets are great because students can learn and have fun while doing so.
