Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. They are young people that are struggling to learn English. Each student is "running their own race" in regards to acquiring a second language. They push themselves to work hard and to make the bridge between the languages work. I am demanding of their time and their attention but they are always very respectful even if it is a really difficult task.

They have such perseverance and are very excited to be in class each day.

I am honored that they are upset when the bell rings for the next class and they have to leave. It makes me feel that they are happy to be here. They have such good attitudes and I am honored to be a teacher.

Any help I need, during class, they fight to see who can help first! They are now eager to read out loud and work in groups where before they were a bit apprehensive. I feel that projects or group assignments are great "friend makers" because they show peer mentorship and help others to feel that they belong. I insist on my students supporting each other like a team. Thank You!

My Project

The tables in my room are so old and they squeak so much that it is hard to concentrate sometimes. I would also like them to be steady when we do science experiments or when we do any activities in the room.

I also want to be able to have "family discussions" and discuss content as a whole group.

These tables can do all this and still allow diversity in regards to content and activities. These tables will give them a steady place to write with no distractions! It will help them to be able to concentrate more! Thank you!
