My Students

This is my first year teaching first grade, and I'm at a brand new school! I taught second grade for three years, then stayed at home with my son for a year.

The school year hasn't started, so I haven't met my students yet; I don't even have a roster!

However, I'm already dedicated to creating a comfortable, loving learning environment for them. And even though we don't know each other yet, I'm sure this year will be like every other year: Starting as strangers, and ending with amazing memories.

My Project

It's amazing what four, circular, cooperative learning tables can accomplish in a classroom.

I am an incoming first grade teacher to a new school and classroom--a classroom currently with desks--and the atmosphere of my classroom is of utmost importance to me.

Not because I need to have an "attractive" classroom, but because research-based evidence has shown that the more comfortable students are in their classroom, the more growth they within that year.

Another significant, proven way students who growth is when they can teach and learn together. This cannot be accomplished separated from each other at stand-alone desks, but only at cooperative activity tables where students can have engaging conversation about the content being learned.
