This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My upcoming class of kindergarteners are going to be a wonderful group of mixed interests, abilities and goals. Myself and Mrs. Crawford, the special education teacher, will have a class of up to 22 students in our inclusive classroom.
Every morning, the students will come to kindergarten as eager to learn, wonderful, friendly, adventurous, sweet, and energetic learners.
Our upcoming students will grow physically and academically every day. We are eager to watch them conquer the world with their learning.
My Project
Kid-friendly tables will be extremely beneficial in our kindergarten classroom. Currently in kindergarten, students sit at individual trapezoid desks, which is the same seating as middle schoolers. Not only are these desks hard to arrange, and take up a lot of space, but they also become a distraction for the students. Students are constantly playing inside their desks, and are always dropping their crayon bags out, which then spill all over the floor. Tables will help keep our classroom clean and organized.
Since kindergarten involves a lot of supplies (crayons, markers, scissors, glue) the tables will give students more room to work.
Students will keep their supplies organized in a community supply caddy in the center of the table. Tables will also provide students more opportunities to work together in collaborative groups, and engage in collaborative learning activities.
