Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students need better computer skills. I teach Introduction to Computers at a school with severely economically disadvantaged youth. Currently, our region has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation.
Students need more computer skills that they can apply to their higher education in college and/or work. I'm currently trying to teach our students how to use tables, graphs and diagrams correctly and how to infuse these items into coherent documents that are easily understood by those who view them. Teaching students how to use and understand diagrams, graphs, and tables is essential in a world that constantly represents important data in visual form.
In order to do this project we need the following: color dry erase markers for my instruction on the white boards and DVD-R discs for data storage.
By giving to this project, you will create for me the opportunity to not only help my current students with this project, but to help all my future students with similar projects as well. You could literally have an impact on hundreds to thousands of students over a 3 year period. I have close to 40 students per class and teach 5 classes a day. Each semester I get new students. So, as you can see in just one school year, you could impact close to 400 students. Three years from now we'll be talking about over a thousand students. Please help me shape the future of this nation by giving these students the quality education and resources they need.
