This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My PreK students come from a high poverty community! We are located in the inner city of Baltimore City and have 500 students in our school. Students in PreK are at a disadvantage with the amount of math and language arts materials.
PreK is the time for students to become engaged in learning and learn how to be creators, explorers, artists, dreamers, scholars, heroes and world changers.
My students are actively engaged every day in purposeful play to learn about the world around them and how to change it!
My Project
Right now I have very old, falling apart trapezoid tables that do not work for my students! Students are nervous to put their learning centers on their table without the table wobbling and falling off.
"Everyone should have an opportunity to learn in a positive environment, to enjoy the learning process, and feel comfortable and content with it." -Barry Saide
I am asking for new round tables that will allow my students to sit comfortably. With these new tables, students will have more freedom to move around the classroom, complete work in small groups or partnerships as well as come into a positive environment.
