My students need tables to work and collaborate. I currently do not have enough table space for my students and have been using folding tables that are not sustainable in the long run.

My Students

Deering High School is a unique place. I believe there is no place like it in Maine, where 36 different languages, a myriad of cultures, a fluidity of genders, athletes, thespians, scientists, activists and everyone in between converge in a supportive community.

At the end of each semester, my students leave feeling part of a small learning community.

I know because they share funny quotes from class before finals, come back to visit and tell me they miss the class.

My Project

By having a good tables students will have a place to work, collaborate, experiment and learn. Year after year our budgets continue to shrink and new furniture is the last thing we can afford. I am currently using folding tables and a variety of mismatched tables in my classroom.

Research has shown that the physical environment of the classroom has a direct impact on student performance.

These tables are specifically designed for scientific lab work. I teach biology, alternative education and marine ecology and the tables will provide a durable surface for collaborative, laboratory work. Please help my students understand that their school, their classroom and their learning is important.
