Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K students come from varying economic and cultural backgrounds. Most of them have never been exposed to a school setting; they come to me as a blank canvas. That is the true meaning of starting from scratch in a classroom. We offer many hands-on activities for them to truly connect with concepts and engage them so they can use all their senses.
I want to influence every aspect of their world and enhance it.
While all of my students are acquiring language and new vocabulary, the majority of my class is doing so with English as a second language.
Despite the language barrier, my students are eager to come to school every day. They are the most curious, energetic, and exceptional bunch you've ever seen. Their ambition to learn fuels my love of teaching.
My Project
Our classroom would love this Markerboard rectangular table to use during focused activities.
We need a table large enough to allow a group of ten children to fit together during small group activities.
In PreK, we have the flexibility of using the carpet or tables, but tables are definitely a must when we work with paints and other messy materials. Many times our children are interested in similar activities but lack the space to do it together. This table will allow more children with a wider space to work in as they socially distance; specially when they are busy building, drawing or painting alone or together.
This specific table has the added bonus of having a Markerboard tabletop, which would allow children to write on the table with dry erase markers... I see many opportunities for learning with that feature. We can practice writing our alphabet letters, numbers, sketch stories, the possibilities are endless. I hope you can help us fulfill this project!
