My first year of teaching is underway, and I’m so excited! My kids are awesome! They are some of the sweetest and social souls I’ve ever met. If I had a quarter of the energy they had, I wouldn’t need so much coffee. My students are high energy, fun-loving, and social butterflies. They are the perfect group to be my first class ever!
Due to my students love for talking to their classmates, I want to encourage collaboration!
I can already tell that all of my students will benefit from time to collaborate with their peers. For some students, it will give them time to talk to their peers about what they are learning. Research shows that when children talk to each other about what they're learning, their comprehension levels increase.

My Project
I am hoping to get four new tables to replace the desks that I have in my room. I am hoping to get these tables so that my students can enjoy their flexible seating options. Having these tables, with the wobble stools, balance balls and cushions, and bouncy bands, will be so beneficial for my students.
Having these tables, rather than desks, will allow for more student collaboration, which is so, so important in these early years!
My students, being the social butterflies that they are, need to be able to work with other students. It is extremely important, that as educators, we teach our students how to work with others. Having these tables will help me do just that! I know my students would be so excited to be able to get rid of their regular old desks and get these tables instead.
How exciting would it be for students to sit around tables with room for multiple students while working on STEAM challenges, math centers, and so much more?
