My Project

I have the pleasure of teaching two amazing third grade classes. They range in diversity and ability. Some are Autistic, and many receive special education services. We are a Title I school, and all of our students are from low-income households, so they all receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Our students love learning, and they work very hard each day. Their creativity inspires both teachers and peers. I am consistently humbled by their tenacious spirits, their loving hearts, and their curiosity about the world.

I'm fascinated by the research surrounding how students learn best, which has led me to incorporate many research-based teaching practices, including flexible seating.

I would love to add an option for my students who want to stand while working. Standing desks are an option, but they are expensive and also don't allow for collaborative work. However, the bar-height table that I'm requesting with this project is both affordable and allows for collaboration. Even more so, this table will fit in perfectly with all of the other flexible seating options we have available.
