This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ask any middle school teacher why they chose to teach at the middle school level and their response will most likely be—the kids. These students are just beginning to understand and figure out their paths in the world. Their curiosity, love of learning, and youth bring so much to each and every day.
Middle school students love to communicate and complete hands-on activities.
The skills they learn today will ensure a successful future for them as they become productive citizens. We are a high poverty school. The students deserve to have the same opportunities as students in more affluent schools.
My Project
Middle school students are social, but they need to learn how to use their communication skills to enhance their learning. We need a collaboration table so students can work together to solve problems and to build solutions. This table is also a marker board table; students can write directly on the table.
Twenty-first-century jobs will require students to master the soft skills of communication and collaboration to work closely with others.
Students need practice working together productively. More and more jobs require employees to work together in teams on projects to develop solutions. As we complete project-based learning activities, students will utilize this table to build upon these skills.
