I teach the best elementary school students in the world! I'm not just saying that; they really are quite incredible! Some of my students have overcome so much in their short lives already while others are just trying to figure this whole "school" thing out. I love my students- their personalities, their ambition, their humor, their endeavors, their stories, and their hearts.
These sweet kids will flourish when their needs are met.
They will begin to think outside of the box, make connections, and be empowered in all of their learning endeavors. I love to provide them with unique ways to further their learning and meet their academic and emotional needs.
My Project
I have been blessed with having a large computer station in my classroom for the past four years. As my district transitions to utilizing newer technology in the coming school year, these older computers and computer tables will be removed from my room, leaving a lot of space with endless possibilities of how to use it! I am excited to expand my reading nook as well as add some more flexible seating! I am hoping to line the back wall with some long, skinny tables to go with the six, tall computer chairs I already have.
These tables will provide a place for focus, comfort, and even escape, if needed.
In my mind, I envision students going to this area if they would like to concentrate and eliminate distractions, if they'd like to privately take a Reading Counts test, or if they just need a break from their classmates while still being within the classroom environment. Not only would it bring a fun, chic vibe to the back area of my room, but it would easily meet so many student needs! I'm excited to see how this transforms my classroom environment and empowers students to take control of their learning space!
