This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are an enthusiastic group of kindergartners who are ready to learn and explore new things. For many of them, this will be their first time entering a classroom.
My students are an energetic and inquisitive group.
I would describe my Kindergarten students as sponges who are ready to absorb all the new material that is presented to them. They are eager to "soak up" any new facts or knowledge that is taught.
They like to be challenged and I feel that they can do anything that they set their minds to with my help and the necessary classroom materials. My students deserve the best start in Kindergarten.
My Project
A horseshoe-shaped table will allow students to come together and explore math by engaging in hands-on activities that allow them to strengthen their math skills in a fun engaging way. I want my students to know that math is exciting and a skill that they will use in everyday life.
The materials requested will help my students apply the math skills they are learning in class while increasing their ability to use their math skills accurately.
Students and teacher will be able to share the work space and use counting and tactile match-ups, counting and place value folder games, number sequencing puzzles, counters, and ten-frames to build a strong number sense and skill set.
