My students need an Engineer-A-Coaster kit, Magnetic Field Wonder Windows, mats and art supplies to explore the art world in the classroom. By tying art and science together, the children are learning to look for inspiration everywhere.
Our students love stories, hands-on learning, and opportunities to build and explore. They want to learn and are excited about any new opportunities.
I teach Transitional First grade.
Transitional first graders--those students between kindergarten and first grade that are academically ready for T-1, but just need time to developmentally grow and are sometimes forgotten in school districts' budgets. While our school puts a lot of love and encouragement in our children, there is not a budget to meet our every want and desires. My T-1 students are those students who need opportunities to shine and to grow more confident in all that they do.
My Project
Children love creating and sharing their creations with others. The kits that were ordered would provide opportunities for them to have wonderful experiences exploring art and science. We have play dough provided by our parents, but we lack the tools to add to the play with it. The magnetic fields will be reproduced in paintings and drawings they children will make. The other art supplies will be placed in our art center for exploration. My students are bright children that are looking for ways to become leaders in school.
It is my job to make sure that they are given many opportunities to find ways to shine and grow as a student.
They are lacking self-esteem and it is my experience that creating art can add to their positive self attitude.
