My students need t to be able to see the effects of the war in Syria on its citizens and understand the world around them.

My Students

My students are brilliant go-getters who strive to go to college and join the workforce. They have dreams of being doctors, lawyers, politicians, business owners, etc.

The students are focused on the city they live in, and they struggle to recognize there is a whole world experiencing different situations around them.

While I strive to help them see the other parts of the world, I can only do so much. I want them to appreciate the country they live in, and also want to help others around the world.

My Project

"A Land of Permanent Goodbyes" will allow my students to look through the window and recognize how other cultures live and have to survive. They will also be able to recognize how teenagers around the world are similar and how we need to appreciate all cultures.

A book about Syria will widen my students understanding of world events and help them to have sympathy and empathy for others.

This will guide them as they make future decisions and participate as voters in three to five years. These students need to recognize that there is more than the city where they live. They need these books.
