I teach at a wonderful elementary school. We are a K-5 school that has been in our community for 18 years. We are dedicated to working with our community to make this a great place to learn.
Every classroom is literacy rich and engaging.
Our staff is full of amazing, dedicated teachers. The school opened its doors in 2001 and was named after a woman who left her mark on many generations of students as a teacher from 1922-1956. Our school is diverse. One-third of our students are white, one-third Hispanic, the other one-third is made up of black and multi-cultural. We live very close to an active community filled with businesses and other schools.
My Project
Students in our county are given a list of award winning books and are challenged to read all 15 of them during the school year. The 2020-2021 list has just been release. Our wonderful district gives schools two copies of each book. However, we have so many interested students that they often have to wait over a month to get the one title they are interested in.
Help me get these awesome books into students hands!
By giving each class a set of books to keep in their room, students have a better chance of getting their hands on these exciting titles. Teachers will be able to use these books as read alouds and students can read them independently.
