Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a dedicated bunch of fourth-graders who believe that education is their way to better their lives. All of these students receive free breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. These children have a set "safe path" to walk on to get to and from school. They know that they will be out of harms’ way when they stay on this protected path. Imagine walking to school in that manner every day? Many of these kids have perfect attendance or are close to it. They know that an enriched education will help advance their futures.
My students are ambitious, focused survivors who persevere and are kind, empathetic, and hard-working.
They should be able to go anywhere in the world because they will have a great education, and not have to settle.
My Project
Designed for grades 3-5 this collection is comprised of high-interest genres of books with captivating visuals and narratives. These graphic novels bring stories to life and inspire students to read more! These books have been vetted by educational experts and depict stories from around the world.
Students have a passion for text no matter what type of text.
Graphic novels and comic books are the most authentic type of text that students love to read. Students can escape to another world through these wonderful texts. This specific reading project helps get requested books into students’ hands who are reading a grade level (or two, or three, or four) below.
