Help me give my students the opportunity to collaborate and create in groups, while safely distanced, using the Swivl as we get back into school!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students attend school on the south side of Chicago. We are a STEM school that tries hard to give them as many tools as possible to succeed, but they are coming from a place of needing help just to keep up with their contemporaries! Over 95% of them are free/reduced lunch, the school building is in disrepair, and many families are barely scraping by. That being said, these kids are curious, gritty, and extremely intelligent!
The teachers at this school are striving to assure that students have every possible chance to succeed and to feel as though each student is being fought for, is important, and has a chance.
The students are extremely interested in all things technological and are growing to be effective critical thinkers and problem solvers. We appreciate any opportunity to improve our ability to help students learn and prepare for success in the 21st century.
The donations in this project will help students and teachers better learn from one another. The donations will also help students improve their speaking and presentation skills. Swivl will make collaboration and learning possible while appropriately socially distancing as we return to school in person.
Students in our school increase literacy skills, demonstrate and improve understanding of learning, and teach others what they have learned through presentation.
When students are working on a group project, they could use the Swivl to record all students in the group instead of having someone else as the cameraman and be left out of the video.
The Swivl camera tracks the student speaking on its' own without anyone having to hold and move the camera. Up to 4 students in a group can each wear a special lanyard that connects to the Swivl camera and allows the Swivl to track the student that is speaking and record their individual or group presentations. When students use the Swivl camera to record their group and individual learning, they can see the mistake they've made and make improvements on their work.
