Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou. This quote from Maya Angelou is our class motto. My objective is for my students to continue to be motivated and challenged so that they can keep boosting their own confidence and achieving success to fully develop their self-potential.
I teach a group of special education students who experience learned helplessness every day because they were told that their disability hinders their learning.
In reality, all they truly need is to rediscover the joy of learning. And once that light bulb clicks, my students can bring a positive classroom energy that continually inspires and motivates others. Our school provides such a stimulating, collaborative, and safe environment for students of various differences and abilities that students are often celebrated for their diversity and achievements. I work for a school where teachers put students first.
My Project
Our class needs two computer swivel chairs to replace our traditional plastic chairs. These seats are made to be mobile, making it easier for students to work in small groups. They will also fidget less because it will allow them to move and swivel while they write! In addition, the iPad cases will protect the student iPads as they get their wiggles out through the kinesthetic learning that's happening in our classroom. It will also allow our iPads to last longer and serve more students in the years to come.
Both the swivel chairs and iPad covers lend themselves to increasing student concentration and productivity during the learning process in science and math.
They both promote collaborative conversations and other active inquiry-based lessons in our writing center. Our vision this year is to turn towards innovation as a way to ensure a successful future. Having more 21st-century seating options empower student choice and learning while the technological materials stimulate student engagement. Ultimately, our goal is to replace the traditional classroom setting with a 21st-century growth mindset, where stimulating conversations, collaborative learning, and productivity are evident!
