My Students

The classroom you will be supporting is an inclusion special education preschool classroom. The students reside in Kahuku and the surrounding community on Oahu North Shore.

The students this project will be supporting, are greatly impacted by their disabilities and need a sensory-friendly cool-down area to improve their ability to self-regulate.

Supporting a cool-down corner gives students more access to their education by giving them the tools to navigate their surroundings.

My Project

Students in this full inclusion classroom are highly impacted by their disability. The students lack the skills to express there emotions or have disabilities, such as autism that require sensory corners to self-regulate.

Items in this project will allow students to navigate their surroundings and calm themselves or receive sensory impute so they are more able to participate with their peers in and out of the classroom.

Having bean bags chairs and a swing inside the classroom will calm their bodies or have a time away while remaining in the classroom.
