Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are very loving and caring individuals. My students are very talented 25 young individuals who come from a low socioeconomic section in Florida. I have ESE, ESOL and autistic immigrant students. My students come to school filled with eagerness to learn and to be the best they can be. My students face many challenges inside school to succeed and do their best, and they struggle outside of school to not allow the environment that they live in to stop them from achieving their dreams.
My Project
Our school continues to receive new students daily as a direct result of the near total destruction of their homeland, Puerto Rico and Haiti by the devastating hurricane last summer. These students enter our school and are immediately playing catch up because most have not attended school since last spring. School is a safe place for students to escape from daily issues. My students have recently experienced similar hardship from the impact of Hurricane Irma.
The students will be able to have snacks such as Sour Patch Kids Sweet and Sour Gummy Candy, Double Bubble gum and Takis Fuego hot chips for snack time.
These kids have come here with barely anything, and often can not concentrate because they are tired from the long day in school. Sweets will help motivate my students through the day. They need something sweet to have energy to finish their day at school. My students will get the candies or chips during snack time. After having something sweet my students can continue to finish their work and have the energy to concentrate on their learning. Through this donation, we will be able to make sure that the children displaced by Maria do not continue to get tired and have motivation.
