After spending my entire career at the same school I completed my internship at in 2012, I have just transferred to a school closer to my home. I am not sure what my students are like yet, but I have heard that the school is filled with kids of all different abilities and needs. My class will include students from different socioeconomic backgrounds, gifted students, students who are English Language Learners, and students with special needs.
I've been told that I can expect a hard working, adventurous, and unique group of kiddos!
I will be their math and science teacher this year and I am very excited about this new endeavor! I cannot wait to get started with my new group of kids!
As I am setting up my classroom at my new school and hearing about the students I will have from my colleagues, my goal is to create an environment where my students are set up for success! I want everything to be prepared for them to come in on the first day of school and see that their classroom is a happy place where they can learn and grow each day. It is important to me that they have the things they need, as well as options that can enhance their learning experience.
I want to make sure that my classroom runs smoothly and is always a place that my students feel comfortable and safe.
In order to make that happen, I try to keep my classroom very organized so that it can run as efficiently as possible. Laminating pouches, magnetic containers, and command hooks are ways to help me stay organized. Laminating pouches allow for materials to last much longer and not have to be repurchased each year. I plan to use the command hooks to hang charts for the math and science content that I will be teaching. This content requires use of many different resources. I have my own printer that I have purchased, but ink can run out quickly when you are using it to print resources for two classes and two subject areas!
I have wanted to incorporate some flexible seating for about two years now! Wobble discs, stools, and floor pillows are a few ways for me to give my students different options to use while they work and learn! I am hoping it will be a success so that I can have a 100% flexible seating environment in the coming years.
