I teach in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with challenges not only in school, but at home as well. Despite the many trials they encounter, I am looking to instill a love for learning and a sense of belonging.
Teaching these students is not a job, it's a joy for me!
I love coming to work and hearing about everything from their winning play in the baseball game to their dog's birthday party! They thrive on positive attention.
A number of my students come from a single parent household and receive free or reduced-price lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the second they walk through the door of my classroom I want them to know they are loved, they belong, and they have control over their futures! I consider myself "blessed" to have the title of their "teacher."
My Project
I promote positive behavior in my classroom. When my students are doing a wonderful job on an assignment or helping a friend, they receive a ticket. If they are showing good character, they also can get a ticket. They use their tickets every other week to shop in our classroom store called, "The Sweet Shop." This project is full of wonderful items that they will be able to buy with their tickets.
When my students are showing good character and have a positive attitude, they deserve to be rewarded for it.
This project will allow them to be able to shop for fancy pencils, erasers, bouncy balls, stickers, bracelets and so much more!
