In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are working hard to grow to be lifelong learners, and they are in need of resources to help them develop and strengthen their understanding of current events.
Schools can be overstimulating places, especially for students who have sensory processing issues.
Each week, many hours of academic instruction and social interaction are lost because a student has become dysregulated and does not have the skills or the tools to self-regulate. Because self-regulation is a skill that many children have a difficult time learning and achieving without help, we would like to provide a setting where we can help them build this important life skill. My high school special education students are bright, loving, and most importantly - unstoppable in their quest to be successful.
Their families support the students, the teacher, and the school. The parents are confident in my abilities as a teacher and with these new relationships and community connections, I enter my room more prepared and driven to provide my students with the supplies they need.
My Project
My students are full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
My students walk into our classroom knowing that the day will be the best day ever.
I am asking for hard candy, gummies, and special treats to pass out during test and special rewards. Students love to get small rewards for great work and great behavior. This project will supply lots of candy and treats for kids who are making the right choices. This will make students in my class work harder and help them concentrate during test. This candy will be shared with the entire special education department.
