My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. The classroom is very economically and ethnically diverse. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting. We help students learn English while holding on and becoming literate in their own language as well. They all have great potential, but need the tools to make them successful.

The children love to move, create and learn!

As the teacher I focus on their strengths and we will build on those to help strengthen any weaknesses. It is my job as the teacher to provide the students with the tools and knowledge they will need to succeed.

My Project

My students need durable cots and a cover sheet. The name clips will allow the teacher to assign each child their own cot. It will minimize the spreading of germs in the classroom.

Rest time allows our students to get an hour of uninterrupted rest, with the lights dimmed and soft sleep music playing in the background.

My students currently sleep on mats that are ripped and frayed. The mats are too cold on the tile floor during the winter months. The cots would allow the students to be elevated off of the floor. The cots carry less germs with the washable sheet that can be attached.
