Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach middle school at a charter school in the South Bronx. My students come from the surrounding neighborhoods, and many travel from other areas to come to school every day. 90% of my students receive free lunch.
Despite their socioeconomic challenges, my students love to learn.
They come to school excited every day. All of their teachers work hard to provide the structures and curriculum the students need to be successful. I hope to provide them with all of the materials they need to have a safe, happy, successful classroom and school life.
My Project
Students that are homeless cannot help where they come from, but teachers can. No student should go through the day on an empty stomach. Nutri -grain bars and cereal will help my students get through the morning. The snacks are essential to their academic success because students cannot focus on an empty stomach. Many other snacks included in this project such as Cheez-it snack crackers will help my students get through the afternoon. The candy will be an incentive to help students press on through the day. We have all been a student before we have all struggled to get through the day sometimes a little piece of motivation goes a long way.
