Our middle school library is a busy place! In addition to checking out books and reading, students utilize our space for a variety of reasons, such as using computers for research, completing assignments, and even socializing during lunch time.
Many of our students like to be active, and do not want to be outside on the noisy courtyard, but we often have to send these students outside to accomodate their energy levels that are just too much for inside a library.
Our students are being exposed to action-based learning in many of their classrooms and are truly enjoying the ability to use their energy in a positive way that also benefits their learning!
My Project
Having an Exerpeutic WorkFit 1000 Fully Adjustable Desk Folding Exercise Bike for student use in our middle school library would be an amazing addition to our school's health and wellness initiative. Our school library is a warm and welcoming space for our students, but not all students are able to sit still and read/work on an assignment quietly or without moving around. Giving students the opportunity to read/work while they burn off energy is an effective means of incorporating health and wellness into their day.
Middle schoolers are full of energy and what better way for them to burn off some energy, than to bike while reading/working!
Donating to this project will help encourage our students to be more active and create yet another space in our school that utilizes action-based learning as a way of increasing student learning.
