This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a low-income area, with more than half qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.
This environment can produce certain obstacles to education, such as an inability to meet a child's basic needs, working parents who may lack the time or resources to provide academic support, and a whole slew of other difficulties.
While these challenges exist, they do not deter our students from striving towards goals and succeeding in endeavors.
Through our commitment to developing relationships, building supports, and creating a positive learning environment, I continue to see the gap lessen. My school does everything it can to support the needs of our children both academically and socially. Our children continue to show scholarship, purpose, and grit and need a classroom that will continue to foster their growth.
My Project
I have access to a wide variety of technology in my classroom, but I do not have the tools to bring it all together in order to create the digital classroom that my students need and deserve.
I need a Microsoft Surface tablet and cover so that I can convert my classroom into a modern digital classroom.
I have tried other tablets that were not able to produce the type of environment I am striving to create due to their technological limitations. I have used a Surface previously at a different school and it met all of the needs that I have. I want to be able to use this device to interact with students using monitoring software as well as use it to power my classroom activities.
