Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Las Vegas. My students and their families come from a variety of situations and backgrounds. Despite many of my students' families' greatest efforts, they struggle daily for some of the most basic needs. Their resiliency and grit impress me every day.

Despite the greatest of challenges put upon my students and their families, they arrive at school ready and excited to learn every day.

They love learning and are so inquisitive in everything they do. They work towards success, challenge themselves, and set goals for themselves on a regular basis. They are the people that will strive to change this world for the better.

My Project

As we are all working to keep everyone safe during this COVID-19 quarantine, nurses and doctors are working tirelessly, retail, food, and delivery workers are continuing to risk their health, and teachers are continuing to inspire their students' growth and development.

My students left school on March 13th with no idea that they would not be returning until further notice, leaving families with little to no preparation to continue learning from home.

These computers will help my students and their siblings continue to work on their academics, engage and collaborate with one another, and find a semblance of consistency and structure during this time where so much is so unknown for all of us. Please help me give that to my students.
