Our elementary school is located in a small, rural community. We have one High School, one Junior High, and five elementary schools. Our school community is 84% Hispanic and 90% Free/Reduced-Price Breakfast and Lunch.
My students love to sit around the classroom in different places to do their schoolwork.
I would like to start building a room full of alternative seating.
It is my goal and job to give them access to the world within the walls of our classroom in an exciting and flexible way. With the help of this project. My students will be able to use these "surf seats" to do just that!
I am always looking for new and inventive ways to help my students be comfortable when they are learning. We do a of carpet work, partner working, and moving around the classroom.
By providing them with more options such as these desks, it will allow my students to move around the room and work in different areas of the classroom.
I am excited to start this new adventure in our classroom. I am on my 39th year of teaching and I still get excited when I find new and unique things to do in my classroom. I hope that this will be the first of other projects to help with making our room a flexible, exciting, and productive classroom.
