Surfing Around to Learning

My Students

My students are second graders from a high poverty school. My students are very inquisitive and love science, math, reading and hands-on and fast-paced projects; however, funds are limited.

My 2nd graders are always on the go, we use stations for a lot of our learning and these desks would be perfect for us as we could move them when we move, and even take them outside.

My students would love being able to carry this lightweight (only 3.5 pound) desk outside to observe insect life cycles, plants and even use them for their playground art drawing on perspectives.

My Project

I am requesting Surf desks for my students. These lightweight desks are easy to move around the room, or even take outside. One limitation to a classroom is space. Tables and conventional desks take up a lot of space, by using Surf desks we can make great use of the classroom space that we have.

Students can use these desks to face the front of the room, take them to their learning station, take them outside to do activities and they can even be washed down quickly and easily if it is cold/flu season.

These desks would be great to help students as they write or draw about nature, or even in Art when they draw the playground (as an introduction to perspective). They can be used for classic learning, as well as hands on learning.
