My students are bright young men and women with great potential! Our school has approximately 1100 students in grades 9 through 12. We have a very ethnically diverse population over 80% of our student population classified as minorities. We are 100% free lunch, so most of my students eat both breakfast and lunch at school each day.
I teach math to students with a diverse range of skills and knowledge.
They often need one on one attention throughout class to help them stay focused and fully engaged in class each day. Math can be intimidating to many of my students, so I try to work with them individually and interact throughout our class time to help them become better problem solvers and give them confidence in their mathematical abilities.
My Project
The ability to dynamically present lessons, write on the screen remotely, and engage students by moving around the room will help me emphasize and annotate as we move through the lesson. The flexibility of a screen that I can write on and move throughout the room will help me keep students engaged and on task. Using a Surface Pro tablet/laptop will give me the ability to be mobile in my classroom.
Math is exciting and interesting!
I want to help my students find excitement in learning new and challenging things. Math can come alive in the classroom. I want my students to see all the exciting and innovative ways they can use math in their communities and in their future careers.
