My Fourth grade students are willing to try new activities and are excited at the possibilities of what they could learn. They strive to have a greater understanding in the world around them. These students have varied backgrounds, but their culture is what keeps them connected. The Native American culture is rich in the area where our school is located and is a vital part of learning.
In my classroom, we focus on being safe to make mistakes during learning, having integrity when interacting with others, and having a positive learning experience.
This allows them to feel safe while learning new topics and finding out how to be successful cooperatively and independently.
The enthusiasm shown in learning is evident through cooperative learning projects which vary between teacher and student developed topics.
My Project
My students need their own space to independently work and get their needs met. There are times during the day where students are not able to sit at their regular desk and sitting on the floor is the most appropriate way for them to learn. This happens during all subjects including math, literacy, science, and social studies.
With Surf Desks, students will be able to do small group instruction and work collaboratively anywhere in the classroom.
The Surf Desks are a much needed tool for our classroom due to the limited amount of space and furniture we currently have in our classroom. My students would benefit from having these available to them so they can properly complete tasks in differing spaces.
