Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students come from low-come families whose first language is not English. More than half of them have special learning needs and approximately 90% are living in impoverished conditions. They come to school ready to learn and want to use what they've learned at school to change the world. What makes them special and lovable is that they are open-minded and try to make their learning experience in 4th grade as good as it can be. Now they are ready to change the world and they need your help.
My Project
Help us get off to a great start with our second project! It is focused on endangered animals. Most of our students cannot afford simple school supplies. Most classrooms do not have a printer and the ones that do are broken, out of ink, or purchased by the teacher as they are a very helpful tool. With a color printer, they would be able to make their projects more vivid and exciting for final presentations. They also could use headsets so they can study and research a topic without disturbing their classmates. Lastly and are very important, some of our teachers could use pushcarts. We are lucky to have enough teachers coming into the classrooms to support the kids this year, however, they do not teach from their own rooms. They have to travel to various classrooms throughout the day to provide instruction. Sometimes they need to make multiple trips across the school to move their supplies to each room. If they had a cart to hose these supplies they could more efficiently relocate between classes and not cut into very important "teaching" time that can be beneficial to our students. Any help to make this project a successful experience for our wonderful and deserving students would be very much appreciated.
