Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from myriad backgrounds and situations. One thing they all have in common is that they are incredibly hard-working and resilient. Many are in the United States without their parents, and the majority must work jobs outside of school in order to pay their own rent, groceries, school clothes, and phone plan, among other expenses.
More than twelve nationalities are represented in my classes alone, and more than thirty in the school as a whole.
My Spanish classroom has always been a place to explore and celebrate the rich diversity of language and culture present within the student body. Now that our classroom has moved online, I strive to continue to build this culture of inclusion, curiosity, and respect.

Please help me provide my students with Chromebooks for distance learning so they have the opportunity to continue their education and do not fall behind during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having access to a Chromebook means that a student can view the instructional videos that their teachers post, participate in online discussions with their peers, turn in online work, and do research for their assignments.
It means giving them a rung on a social ladder that will otherwise leave them stranded a semester or more behind their peers.
Most of my students do not have the financial support to be able to afford a luxury good such as a Chromebook. As a Title I school, we have received some, but there were not enough to go around for each student. As a result, many of my students are falling behind on their education because of their lack of access to technology during the school closures.
These are difficult times that exacerbate existing inequities. If you are able, it would mean the world to me and my students if you would contribute what you can, so that they can access the quality education they desperately need. A million thanks in advance!
