This last year I taught reading and writing to two enthusiastic groups of second graders (48 students total). This group was full of personality and has really developed a love for reading and writing. I teach in an inclusive classroom, so my students' needs were all over the board, but they learned to treat each other like family. I really enjoyed watching them grow! I am now preparing for another fabulous group of 2nd graders come this fall.
I cannot wait for a new journey to begin come September!
My Project
Having a classroom with options for my students is something that I have been itching to create. Allowing them them to choose where they work best every day will help them to reach their academic potential. Also, this year, I will have two sections of 28 students throughout the day. These groups consist of students with a variety of social emotional needs. Therefore, I wanted to create a space in my classroom that has fidgets and other resources for all students to use whenever they need it.
Giving my students these options will help them feel a sense of responsibility, respect and comfort.
I am hoping to create a supportive and positive classroom environment with these new tools.
