I am so lucky to have such an incredible group of students! My students make my day every day and bring so my joy to my heart. I am blessed to have 10 students in a self-contained program that I support with behavioral, social and emotional needs. My students tend to struggle with coping with emotions and tend to need intensive supports to de-escalate their emotions. Even with the intense moments my students display, I still think that they're incredible, wonderful, and have such great potential to accomplish any goal.
My Project
My students tend to struggle with sensory dysregulation and tend to be overwhelmed quickly. When my students have access to the tools, it helps them immediately self-regulate their emotions, needs and wants which supports their learning. My students do tend to have very intense behaviors which items that I have purchased, are not reusable after their intense behavior. I know that the sensory tools are effective, and a necessity to enhance the students' academic achievement. With the tools that I have used in the past, I was able to graduate three students from the self-contained setting and into the general education population, with the support of the sensory tools.
I am requesting more tools in the classroom to continue on the path of providing intense tools that will be an intensive tool to support their needs.
All the items that I am requesting are from Lakeshore Learning. Ultimately, my goal is to provide all my sweet kids a chance to have access to the general education classroom.
