I teach a group of 26 enthusiastic public school 3rd graders who live in a suburban neighborhood of California.
They have varying abilities and learning styles, along with specific educational needs.
What makes them all similar is their sense of wonder, their curious nature and their quest to explore their world. They are constantly asking "How?" and "Why?" and they live in a constant state of wide eyed wonderment. I have the privilege and joy of working with them on a daily basis.
My Project
I have a group of digital natives living in a modern world. They learn best when engaged in a variety of activities that meet the needs of all learners, from directed instruction to games, to using hands-on math manipulatives, to technology based activities. All of these pursuits can be found in our daily classroom "Math Stations".
Each day, when my students engage in math learning stations, one of the activities is technology based.
The programs reinforce math facts or the current topics that we are focusing on. These activities are easily differentiated and can be especially useful to the special needs learner.
The Chromebooks and the charging equipment, that will be provided from this project, will be used on a daily basis to support our math curriculum, keeping math instruction current and interesting to ALL modern day learners.
