Ms. LeFever from Kansas City MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need more technology to support reading in the classroom: 1 Tag Reader-pack of 4, 1 activity set, and transitional reader set, and 1 classics set.

Reading has become more than picking up a simple classic book to read. Reading is now being done with e-readers, tablets and interactively through computers. Our classroom has 1 computer for 25 students to share. My students are not given the opportunity to practice literacy skills using technology.
My classroom is a community full of students from a lower socio-economic background.
Students in my classroom are not often given educational opportunities outside of the classroom. Many students have never visited the public library or used a computer. Our school is equipped with a computer lab and 1 computer in the classroom. Students love computer time and love using technology such as our interactive SMARTboard. Any technology students can use to support their learning immediately attracts students to the activity. In a technology driven world, our classroom is in serious need of a technology make-over.
I purchased a TAG reader for our classroom last year. It quickly became a big hit. Students select a book that goes with the TAG reader and use the pen to touch the pages. The TAG reader can read the story to them, read single words, play phonics games, play comprehension games, ask questions and require the student to find detail, and provide feedback with software for the teacher. This will serve as an activity to do while in workstations. Students will practice literacy skills learned in class with the TAG reader. Not only is this a fun tool to use while learning, it also provides feedback for the teacher, student and parent. Students like to see how many questions they got right or how quickly they read with no errors. This is a very positive, interactive and engaging tool for classroom use.
With your donation and support of a TAG reading system for our classroom, more students will be able to use the system.
We currently share 1 computer and 1 TAG reader between 25 curious minds. Having the extra readers will allow for more students to have more than 1 opportunity a week to use technology to learn or practice literacy skills. Your donation will provide my second grade classroom with literacy practice that will help them in strengthening their foundation of reading skills.
