Help me give my students a variety of titles that will appeal to my diverse readers. Multiple copies will allow students to read and discuss the books together while creating a community of readers and thinkers.
My classroom is full of incredible students who all learn best in different ways. Students in intervention struggle with either reading or math (or both!) and require personalized and targeted instruction that best meets their learning styles. Instruction takes place in small groups, and allows for a comfortable and safe learning atmosphere for students.
The students in my classroom come from all walks of life and a novel is often a place to escape their own burdens, make connections, and learn valuable life lessons.
Students have many different learning needs, and traditional instructional methods can overwhelm my students. The intervention classroom has become a place where students can build their confidence in their skills while receiving the instructional help they need.
My Project
Building vocabulary grows reading ability as well. Games are a "sneaky" way to incorporate word work outside of memorization and weekly quizzes. Adding competition raises the level of involvement and engagement.
Reluctant readers are more likely to read when they have choice in their book selection.
By providing a variety of reading materials to my diverse group of students, everyone will be able to find something they can become excited about. The classroom culture in my room can grow around student conversations that are created through this excitement. Students can look forward to reading the titles they have selected and it can allow me to foster a more positive reading atmosphere. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
