My Project

I am the school librarian of 315 students in a small suburban/rural middle school. My school is part of the Connecticut Alliance District program which supports the 33 lowest-performing districts in the state as they establish reforms to increase student performance and close achievement gaps. My middle school learners are enthusiastic about reading but don’t necessarily have access to rich literature once summer starts. We spend the school year focused on improving their literacy skills and to assist in preventing the “summer slide” I would like to provide each and every student with a Nutmeg Award Winning (or nominated) book to ensure they have access to great literature during the months spent home over the summer.
