This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I serve the wonderful diverse PK, fifth and sixth grade students at the Ogden Jenner Campus. Our school is an IB school. Our mission is to offer an education that engages the PK-12 diverse student body with inquiry-based learning experiences fostering empathy, critical thinking and global mindedness for the world of tomorrow.
Our globally recognized IB programs provide concept-based, academic frameworks and student-centered learning by inquiry, grounded in global context and real life situations.
It is my goal to expose our students to relevant real life experiences out side the classroom to broaden their understanding of life in a global context.
My Project
The Pre-K students Little Owls will be attending a free field trip program, called the Food4Less Power of Zero, Zero Hunger Zero Waste. Our school is a Communities In School Partner so we were able to attend this field trip for free. However, the transportation is not covered. The parents would still need to pay for the bus for their child to attend the field trip which would be about $13 per student.
During the students will learn about the importance of making good decisions about nutrition.
Students will also learned about our shared responsibility to end hunger and food waste.
