I am a first year teacher, and I work in a Title I school. About half of my students are ELL students and are working to learn the English language everyday at school. Some of my students come supplied with everything they need, while others don’t have the support or resources that they deserve. My students strive to do their best in school each and every day, even though many odds are against them. My students need your support! Our school is considered to be at a high poverty level. We have a 40% refugee population, 40% African American, and 20% other. We offer free breakfast and lunch to all students. Many of my kiddos would benefit from flexible seating options and additional sensory/hands on gadgets to keep them focused and engaged during the school day. With your help, my classroom will be able to become a home and a safe place for my students!
My Project
Many of my students struggle to control their bodies and energy when in the classroom with 25 students. Some feel overwhelmed, jittery, and/or anxious throughout the day. With these materials, my students will be able to get their wiggles out while still focusing and being on task in the classroom. All of these materials will benefit their ability to calm down when feeling anxious or upset, and allow them to reset their focus back to the learning. These items will help make my classroom a home and also a safe place for my students that come into it every day!
