My students need a colorful carpet to gather around, that creates a warm and inviting classroom community.
This project expired on November 6, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
As a 2nd year teacher, I am trying to create the most inviting and welcoming environment for my 2nd grade students.
My 2nd grade EL students come from different ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
It is definitely a melting pot with many cultures being represented such as Mexico, Nepal, Honduras, and Kurdistan. Nearly all of them receive free or reduced lunch, due to their socioeconomic status. Majority of them are learning to speak, write, and read English as they are trying to master Common Core standards. Even with the barriers, the students in my classroom want to excel in reading, writing, and math. They are determined to learn and overcome those barriers.
With the new colorful carpet, my students will have a welcoming learning environment. Morning meetings, mini-lessons, read a-louds, and other various classroom activities will be held on the carpet. The students love coming to school to learn, and this will just add more joy for students and their learning experiences!
The donations for this project will make my classroom a loving and inviting environment.
The students will have a comfortable place to sit as they learn the Common Core standards. It will make students eager to learn!
