I'm a yoga teacher in an inner city high school in downtown Brooklyn, New York. Our school serves urban youth ranging in age from 17-21. They don't like gym and need a lot of gym credit!! I've found they enjoy yoga and continue to ask for more classes!! With three periods of yoga each day scheduled for next semester – I will have 90 students for yoga EVERY DAY.
There is a great teaching tool my students could utilize to work on yoga in school and at home. It's called AN ASANA LEARNING DECK. It's a yoga text book laid out in laminated cards that would last for many years. I would like 90 of these decks. Students in future classes would also benefit from this material – so it would be a reusable yoga textbook!!
My students would use the deck to learn postures, stick figures, Sanskrit names, categories, and suggested sequencing. Cards are color-coded by category so students would be able to flip through the deck, order them and design their own routines. My students would be able to use these cards to memorize and prepare for tests.
The learning deck includes 108 postures, plus quick reference information cards, totaling 120 cards. Cards are- Size: 4" X 5 1/2", two sided, and laminated. They are held securely on a metal ring.
